On the morning of May 21st at 11:18 am, in the Taklamakan Desert, gongs and drums were roaring, sirens were blowing, transport vehicles and seismic vehicles were neatly lined up, and geophysical exploration team members were ready to set off The groundbreaking ceremony for the two-dimensional acquisition project in the Tarim exploration area of Yanchang Petroleum, undertaken by the 2202 team of the Emerging Geophysical Exploration Management Department, is being held warmly.
Luo Wanming, Deputy General Manager of Yanchang Petroleum Group, Wang Xiangzeng, Chief Geologist and Chief Scientist of Yanchang Petroleum Group, and Yu Baoli, Deputy General Manager of the company, attended the ceremony.
This project is the first exploration project implemented by Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum Group Company in the Tarim exploration area of Xinjiang. The project work area is located in Kashgar, Xinjiang, involving 3 counties, 1 regiment, and 11 townships. It is currently the largest external project of the company in China and is listed as a key project for the company's upgrade management in 2024.
Luo Wanming said in his welcoming speech that the 2D seismic acquisition project of Yanchang Petroleum Exploration Area in the Tarim Basin was officially launched, marking the first step of Yanchang Petroleum's regional oil and gas exploration and development in Xinjiang. The implementation of this project will lay the foundation for clarifying favorable exploration directions, initiating 3D seismic exploration, and drilling oil and gas wells in the next step. The project construction will uphold a rigorous attitude and collaborative spirit, fully challenge the technical difficulties of ultra deep exploration in southwestern Tarim, and strive to achieve oil and gas reserve discovery and production breakthrough as soon as possible, making due contributions to the economic and social development of Xinjiang, especially Kashgar region.
In his speech, Yu Baoli stated that since its entry into Tarim and the "Sea of Death" in 1978, the Eastern Geophysical Company has gone through 47 years. In the nearly half century journey, petroleum geophysical exploration has put in hard work, blood, youth, wisdom, and even precious life to support the construction of the Western Development. It has also witnessed the outstanding achievements made by the Eastern Geophysical Company in building the Tarim Oilfield and promoting the construction of the West East Gas Transmission Source Area. As the only geophysical technology service company in the world with a full industry chain, Dongfang Geophysical Exploration Company will always adhere to the service concept of "creating value for oil fields, where geophysical exploration has value", fully leverage the company's comprehensive and integrated technological advantages, focus on solving key technical problems that restrict oil and gas exploration and development, and jointly create a model of sincere cooperation and 
mutual promotion between China Petroleum and Xinjiang Petroleum, making new and greater contributions to the exploration and development of oil and gas in Xinjiang.
Before the ceremony began, the attendees had a detailed understanding of the development history, strategic vision, operational capabilities, and corporate culture of Yanchang Petroleum Group and Dongfang Geophysical Company; I observed the modern desert exploration equipment used by the Eastern Geophysical Company in its battle against the Sea of Death, and visited the intelligent seismic team AI recognition, smart campsite, green and healthy cabin, and party and mass cultural exhibition room.
More than 260 people attended the groundbreaking ceremony, including the heads of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Natural Resources Bureau, relevant departments of Kashgar City and the city and county governments, the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Natural Resources Bureau, the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government Office in Xinjiang, and relevant departments of Yanchang Petroleum Group. The company's senior technical advisor Deng Zhiwen and chief expert Dai Shuanghe also attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
